All of our ideas about God are just ideas. I think we forget this at times because those ideas bring us so close to God. The problem is, none of our concepts, no matter how beautiful, can actually contain the Divine in the end. And so unless we intentionally create room for humility, and silence and mystery in our worship we are really just worshiping our own ideas. And that's idolatry.
As a theologian this is something I am constantly working to remind myself. I worship God. Not my ideas about God.
